A silver christening spoon, with whistle finial. Horn was often
used for babies' spoons because it was soft on the mouth. This special one has a whistle for baby to blow and a heart
decoration. The bowl of the spoon has been chewed slightly and the whistle bitten! Unusually for these the silver
is hallmarked. The date is Birmingham 1909-10.

These are quite amazing, their distressed state being even
more evocative of a world gone by. A pair of Victorians child's leather shoes worn until the big toe has come through
the end. I wonder who many children had worn them before that happened. They measure only 4 1/2 inches in length. The sole is heavy solid leather, with a leather heal with 13 brass nails to make them wear longer. Brass eyelets and
what looks to be a sort of oilcloth lining. Difficult to date, probably last quarter of the 19th century.

The following children's clothes all came from the same Scottish family.
They would look spectacular on an antique doll or even a good little girl!
| Antique Scottish child's lawn dress. |
|
|
A very pretty fine lawn dress.
Fine smocking and cutwork decorate the front panel, with lace at the collar and at the cuffs. The rose emblem
to the side of the front panel is similar to the "Glasgow Rose". The hem is decorated with broderie anglaise
and the whole dress is covered in embroidered dots. Five tiny Mother of Pearl buttons go down the back opening.
Aproximate sizes- 29 cm across shoulders, 10 cm from shoulder to underarm, 55 cm long, 28 cm at waist.
Date-
circa 1910
Condition- This is an antique dress, not a new one and it should be treated with some care but
it is in good condition for its age. Although I have washed it I have taken care to use non bio liquids and not to use fabric
conditioners, which can damage antique cloth. On the left hand side (of the person wearing it) there is one tiny
mark in the arm fold. I have not used modern bleaching powders and it might well come out with those. However it is priced
with the mark. There are no other marks that I can see.

| Antique cotton padded bib. |

This adorable baby's bib
is made in two layers. Antique bibs are rare survivors!
The top is finest white cotton, hand embroidered and with
a handmade lace edge. The under layer is the softest white cotton brushed cotton imaginable, which has cotton binding.
Aproximate size- 29 cm from back of neck to front tip.
Date- circa 1910

is one slight mark on the white binding which joins the front to the underlay. I have not washed this in modern bleach powders,
as many people like the original antique white, so if you choose to wash it this way it could might come out. However it is
priced with the mark, so I hold no promises! It does not show from the front.

| Antique child's silk dress with net overlay. |
|
|
This such an amazing Edwardian
dress, the little girl wearing it must have felt a star! The lining is fine cream silk with an embroidered net overlay. All of the stitching is hand done. Even the lining has lace at the arm holes! The sleeves have no lining,
just a short sleeve which echoes the body of the dress. There are three tiny Mother of Pearl buttons at
the back to fasten it. A very light cream in colour.
Aproximate sizes- 30 cm across shoulders, 17 cm from
shoulder to underarm, 50 cm long, 30 cm across at waist.
Date- circa 1910

This pretty Edwardian broderie anglaise dress is hand sewn and
embroidered, with a silk ribbon gathering it just above the waist. There is lace at the neck and cuffs.
Aproximate sizes- 25cm across shoulders,9cm from shoulder to underarm, 50cm long, 27cm
at waist.
Date- circa 1910
Condition- This is an antique dress, not a new one and it should be
treated with some care but it is in good condition for its age. Although I have washed it I have taken care to use non bio
liquids and not to use fabric conditioners, which can damage antique cloth. The ribbon is original at the waist and is a little
tattered. As an antique it adds to the charm, but if the dress was to be worn, by a child, it could easily be replaced. There
are no marks that I can see.

| Antique Child's Summer coat. |
|
|
Adorable little coat of finest
wool flannel (the old fashioned name for it is Nun's veiling I believe!) It has a full cotton lining and a silk
tie around the neck. The braiding round the collar and the embroidery is all silk. The underside of the collar is fully lined
in cotton, but the edge next to the opening is over lined in fine silk, just to be super sure not to chafe! There are
three Mother of Pearl buttons to the front.
Aproximate sizes- 24cm across shoulders, 12 cm from shoulder to underarm,
50 cm long.
Date- circa 1910
Condition- This is an antique coat, not a new one and it should be
treated with some care but it is in reasonable condition for its age. Although I have washed it I have taken care
to use non bio liquids and not to use fabric conditioners, which can damage antique cloth. This coat is not in the same state
as the other clothes and would be more suited to life on a doll than on a child. The price relates to this. The wool looks
thin in places, the silk tie is tattered at the ends and some of the seams could do with being renewed. But that is me being
pessimistic- it is an enchanting coat and few such items survive. People treasured the christening robes in families but not
the clothes children actually wore. That said, only a very rich child would have had something as fine as this. If this was
to be worn by a doll, only on very close inspection would any of the wear be spotted.

| A pair of miniature apprentice type shoes. |
|
|
A quite remarkable pair of miniature
shoes. Made to the highest quality and of doll size but I suspect made to show the craftsmen's skill rather than for a
purpose. Measuring only 2/12 inches from toe to heel. 8 brass nails in the heal and the toes have been separately
soled with the little circle which designer handmade shoes have today. (it must have a name, but I don't know what it
is!) Fabulous fairy shoes, would be wonderful on a Victorian doll. Made circa 1900.
