A Scottish pottery hen shaped bankie, terracotta painted red.

Moulded with chickens and a basket pattern.

In Scotland these are called "Pirlie" banks from the Scot's word "pirl" to shake or rattle.

condition- There is a tiny mark to the red colouring on one side of the slot and a little wear. It is very unusual to find one of these bankies with so much of the red colouring left as it is very easy to over wash off.
