Scottish Antique marked snuff box by Gibson of Auckinleck.
A Scottish hand painted snuff box by Gibson of
Auchinleck
decorated with a monkey taunting a dog with a stick and the phrase:
"Don't you wish you may get it"
Pen, ink and body colour on sycamore.
The hinge has been professionally restored and there is a crack to both sides at the front which has been secured but which still shows slightly. (see pictures below)
A nice box and a rarity.
7.5 cm long x 1.7 cm high x 3.4 cm deep.
(I sold this box before and am now selling it for a customer's relative.)
