Spectacular Scottish Antique bowl decorated with fruit
A truly spectacular, large sized Scottish Pottery serving bowl, decorated with fruiting vines.
This is hand painted, rather than sponged, but is typical of the type of pottery known as spongeware.
I have never seen this design before, it almost resembles aubergines!
A farmhouse type serving bowl, similar to Irish potato bowls.
Measures 32.54 cm in diameter at rim x 13cm high.
There is some staining and the two cracks shown below. It is a very special bowl and the damage shows on the underside and hardly at all on the upper side. There is none of the usual crazing which one expects of this type of wear.
